PBS North Carolina to Premiere Season 8 of Documentary Series 'My Home, NC'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, 4/26/2023 — PBS North Carolina announces season eight of the Emmy® Award-winning documentary series My Home, NC. Hosted by PBS North Carolina’s Heather Burgiss, the new season will debut the first of eight themed episodes on Thursday, May 4, at 8:30 PM, on PBS NC, as well as online and on the PBS App. In addition, digital shorts from the series are being released biweekly on YouTube.
My Home, NC celebrates the people, culture, food and music that make North Carolina so special. Stories this season include visits to the magical Mosaic House in Durham and the community-minded Lee’s One Fortune Farm in Morganton, plus profiles of Charlotte bike advocate Pam Murray, blueway trail guide Ty Caldwell and artist Artie Barksdale.
Heather Burgiss, My Home, NC’s executive producer/director/host and PBS North Carolina’s Director of Original Productions, has been telling the stories of her beloved adopted home state and developing new series and shows for both digital and broadcast at PBS North Carolina since 2000.
“My Home, NC seeks out unique, compelling, diverse and often underserved voices in communities across the state,” says Heather Burgiss. “By featuring fascinating people and places, we hope to offer our audience a window into their world where they learn something new and see a fresh perspective.”
In February, My Home, NC received an Emmy® Award for best magazine program at the 37th Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards. “I am incredibly proud of our talented team of creators here at PBS North Carolina,” says Heather. “They are each remarkable and approach storytelling with creative curiosity and a commitment to production excellence. It’s an honor to work alongside such gifted colleagues to lift voices, entertain, educate and share compelling stories across North Carolina.”
