PBS North Carolina Appreciates You!

November is a time when we reflect and share our gratitude for your generous support over the past year. We’ve accomplished so much together! Learn more about some of our favorite highlights from 2021.

January

We started the year by serving you. You enabled PBS North Carolina to deliver content statewide and to Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina, reaching more than 14 million people on four broadcast channels, online, on the PBS Video app, and with PBS NC Passport.

February

PBS North Carolina’s educational resources, At-Home Learning and Classroom Connectionprovided teachers, students and parents with virtual learning options. We continue to provide learning resources with your help.

March

Together, we launched NextGen TV—a pilot initiative to improve quality and access to our broadcast channels and enhanced emergency alerts across the state.

April

Opioids: State of Recovery premiered with the story of Leah Wright and her son, Carrson, as they recount his own recovery journey and Leah’s work to start the Triangle’s first recovery high school. This important program aims to remove the stigma of recovery. You helped viewers learn to affect positive change amidst the ongoing opioid epidemic.

May

You met our Neighbor by Neighbor fundraising campaign with generosity, supporting PBS North Carolina’s mission.

June

You helped Black Issues Forum commemorate Juneteenth's recognition as a national holiday with a special episode that went behind-the-scenes of OWN Network’s Delilah, filmed in Charlotte.

July

Celebrating five years of Rootle, we launched Rootle Ambassador, PBS North Carolina’s initiative to educate and impact all children in North Carolina.

August

Sci NCtaped new episodes with a brand new set and lighting designs that your support helped provide. You can watch new episodes anytime online and on the PBS Video app.

September

Our 9/11: We Remember special recognized the anniversary of the September 11th attacks with thoughtful storytelling. You can watch this film anytime online and on the PBS Video app.

October

The Key Ingredient series took off, celebrating food and recipes across North Carolina with host Sheri Castle and local guest chefs.

November

With your contributions, the Hindsightdocumentary series chronicles the experiences of Black, Indigenous and people of color communities in the American South and Puerto Rico.

December

We will release our full collection of stories from The Innovators: The Transformative Power of NC’s Historically Black and American Indian Universities, celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of students and faculty.

We are so thankful that you’ve made all this possible. You help us provide educational and inspiring content, reach people across the state and encourage curiosity about the world around us. Thank you from all of us at PBS North Carolina!
