PBS Dramas Returning This Summer

This June, enjoy new and returning favorites from Masterpiece and Walter Presents. From a sun-drenched department store in 1960s Milan to the misty peaks of the French Alps, follow characters grappling with faith, identity and the weight of cases they can’t leave behind. 

This month on PBS NC, the beloved series Grantchester closes out its final chapter with the premiere of season eleven. In the summer of 1963, Alphy reconnects with his estranged mother and begins to question his faith while Geordie faces a promotion that threatens to permanently end their crime-solving partnership. Also, season two of Patience premieres this month on PBS NC with the arrival of a new detective partner for Patience, sparking tension between the two. Meanwhile, Patience searches for her mother and navigates the highs and lows of a new romance. 

The fourth season of The Mountain Detective offers a European summer escape when it comes to the PBS app with PBS NC Passport. From Walter Presents, the French series follows former Marseille policeman Alex Hugo, who left the city behind only to find himself drawn back into danger amid the rugged mountains of the Hautes-Alpes. For an Italian getaway, watch Paradise, which returns for an eleventh season of romantic rivalries and betrayals behind Milan’s most glamorous department store.

Grantchester

In the momentous summer of 1963, Alphy reconnects with his estranged mother and questions his faith. Geordie faces a promotion that could end his crime-solving partnership with Alphy, and Cathy’s career soars. As Leonard discovers his paternal side and Miss Scott faces a life-changing event, the Grantchester family must face love, loss, and forgiveness one last time.

Patience

Patience returns to help tackle crimes in York. When new detective Frankie Monroe bursts on the scene, there’s initially tension but soon they learn to work as a team. Meanwhile, Patience faces challenges in love and loss.

The Mountain Detective 

Former policeman Alex Hugo leaves Marseille in search of a new life, but ends up confronting violence in the mountains of the Hautes-Alpes. In French with English subtitles.

Paradise 

Paradise is a profound drama portraying tight-knit relationships between workers at a store amidst the societal expectations of the 1950s. In Italian with English subtitles.
