New Masterpiece Drama Series & More: Premiering on PBS NC


As the winter chill fades, storytelling blooms with new dramas to watch on PBS. This spring, new shows from Masterpiece take us from the high-stakes world of Victorian finance to the rugged coastlines of a legendary revenge story, following characters who must choose between family duty and the daring pursuit of personal happiness.
March offers three spectacular premieres on PBS NC. First, witness the rise of a dynasty in The Forsytes, a lush reimagining of a classic saga that uncovers the secret desires hidden beneath a family’s polished image. Then, a new adaptation of a classic French novel arrives in The Count of Monte Cristo, which follows a man seeking justice after surviving wrongful imprisonment.
Finally, returning to Poplar for a 15th season is Call the Midwife. Set in 1971, the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House face a changing world with the same unwavering compassion that defines the series.

The new season kicks off in 1971 as several of the ladies embrace the Women’s Liberation and burn their bras outside Nonnatus House. Over the year, the team handles challenging cases including premature birth, placenta previa, kidney cancer, tuberculosis and slavery.

This lavish reimagining of the Nobel Prize-winning tale of love, ambition, and betrayal follows the wealthy Forsyte family in 1880s London. Inspired by John Galsworthy’s celebrated Forsyte Saga novels, The Forsytes portrays events that take place before those covered in Galsworthy’s books.
