Broadcast IT Specialist

PBS North Carolina is actively seeking a Broadcast IT Specialist to provide technical solutions across a broad spectrum of information technology to support television broadcast and multi-media equipment, systems integration, workflows, networks, databases, software, and servers in a studio environment and field production environment.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of related experience; or a combination of education and applicable experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Broadcast Technician

PBS North Carolina is actively seeking a Broadcast Technician based in the Western North Carolina region. The Broadcast Technician is responsible for the overall monitoring and maintenance of translators in the PBS NC statewide DTV broadcast system following federal, state, and organizational directives and regulations. Regular activities include field strength measurements, routine and out of hours emergency site attendance for repair, preventive maintenance, equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades. Additionally, the Broadcast Technician is involved in maintenance of the PBS NC microwave radio system; maintenance of high power television broadcast transmitters; maintenance of remote control systems; design of broadcast station transmission systems; planning, coordination and involvement in transmission projects within the organization and with outside vendors providing services to PBS NC; and interaction with the public, PBS NC colleagues, and operators and occupants at shared facilities.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalency and completion of a two-year technical school program in electronics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

 

Senior Account Executive

PBS North Carolina is actively seeking two Senior Account Executives for the Corporate Engagement team. The Senior Account Executive is responsible for initiating, developing, and stewarding corporate relationships that lead to predictable, sustainable revenue growth for PBS North Carolina. The position combines the opportunity to utilize the skills and experience of thriving in a performance-based, data-informed, goal-driven sales environment with the mission-critical task of raising revenue for a well-respected, nonprofit statewide media organization. This position also requires excellent executive presence to connect with C-Suite leaders at companies across the state. The key performance indicators we are seeking for executive presence include: 1) Interpersonal Aptitude, which focuses on the ability to interact effectively with others inside our organization with confident and accurate communication, understanding how your behavior affects others inside the team and organization, and having the confidence of senior leadership. 2) Professional Affect, which is how you are viewed outside the organization in terms of style, presence (which includes during in-person and virtual meetings), composure and presentation delivery. 3) Technical Competence, which involves having the skills and experience required to deliver on the organization's goals. For the Corporate Engagement Team this means: a. Having ultimate clarity on the products and services PBS NC is selling, including project funding, facilities rental, production services and the other opportunities across the Corporate Engagement portfolio. b. Having clarity on and being able to communicate the value and benefits of each of our products and services, as well as the ability to strategically qualify and align companies with our investment opportunities utilizing corporate scorecards, the corporate scoring system, and other data sources. c. Being able to communicate PBS NC's vision flawlessly. d. Develop strategies for increasing the revenue coming into PBS NC monthly. The senior account executive sells television underwriting messages, digital media, corporate event, project funding partnerships/corporate engagements and other corporate engagement opportunities to corporations and their advertising agencies. In this consultative sales position, the senior account executive is responsible for assisting in achieving market sales goals through his or her own direct sales and through participation in the implementation of PBS NC's systems and overall growth strategy. The senior account executive connects with decision makers at businesses, meets with them to understand their marketing needs and develops proposals that offer marketing solutions to help them grow their businesses. In this position, the senior account executive will prospect, conduct needs assessments, create and present proposals, close the deal, write copy and service the account. The senior account executive will also harness data and technology, using a variety of systems, including HubSpot, LinkedIn, Nielsen's Scarborough system, Protract, Trac Media tools and other ratings and data analytics, to drive revenue growth opportunities with corporate partners. The senior account executive will utilize PBS NC's corporate data systems to develop and grow an account list while working as part of the Corporate Engagement and Growth teams to achieve personal and organization financial goals. PBS North Carolina is a statewide network and travel will be required to meet with corporate partners throughout the state. This position will also support PBS North Carolina's comprehensive campaign.

Attributes required for this position include exceptional interpersonal communication skills, public speaking, and presentation confidence, writing proficiency, organizational skills, and self-motivation. The successful candidate will be a strategic thought partner with internal stakeholders, including division directors, around project development and corporate engagement.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree and at least six years of cultivation, solicitation, sales, and event management experience in a media and/or non-profit environment or equivalent combination of experience/education. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Senior Post-Production Editor

PBS North Carolina is actively seeking a Senior Post-Production Editor to work closely with the network directors in making creative and technical decisions in assembling recorded audio and video material using professional broadcast equipment and software, into a complete, well-polished program for broadcast at the local and national level.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

 

Senior Producer/Correspondent, Public Affairs 

PBS North Carolina is actively seeking a Senior Producer/Correspondent, Public Affairs to develop and create multi-platform Public Affairs content. Reporting to the Director of North Carolina Channel & Original Productions, the Senior Producer/Correspondent will independently develop, craft, and deliver top quality original productions for PBS NC. This position will take an "audience first" approach and look for ways to best serve PBS NC's diverse audiences with the content produced, as well as work with the leaders of the content team to build and promote all of PBS NC services. This position includes field story producing, organizing, writing, editing, and publishing. The Senior Producer/Correspondent will serve as series content manager (Sr. Producer), will serve as main anchor for public affairs programming, serve as Sr. Correspondent (anchor/host) for on-air weekly broadcasts and ensure overall quality control and delivery of assigned series within the PBS NC digital and broadcast ecosystem. This position provides creative leadership from inception to completion in assisting with production and direction of program segments, entire programs, or series. This position develops, researches, produces, writes, directs, edits, and distributes Public Affairs content for all of PBS NC linear and digital platforms. While the position works collaboratively with co-workers and community partners, the Senior Producer/Correspondent independently ensures productions are complete, accurate and meet organization mission goals. This position assists ongoing series producers with online distribution management, show and feature editing and delivery. This work ranges from involvement with concept, content, funding/budget, to oversight of all pre-production, production, and post- production activities, including social media. This position manages work teams and staff and provides supervision and leadership. Position manages the resource allocation and logistics for various digital platforms in production or post-production. This position serves as a representative of PBS NC's Content division in partnership projects, serving the needs of both the partner and PBS NC.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station. This is a three year time-limited appointment.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, production, filmmaking, or related field. Three to five years of experience as a respected content creator across traditional analog and digital platforms; and the ability to serve as on-air talent anchor/host. The person in this position must have a passion for creating diverse content for diverse audiences and must have a strong understanding of new storytelling trends as well as media's fast evolving landscape. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
