PBS North Carolina Names Marianne Monoc As Its Chief Development Officer

Monoc brings 25 years of fundraising leadership to one of the largest public media networks in the country.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, 6/18/2026 — PBS North Carolina announces the appointment of Marianne Monoc as its Chief Development Officer, following an extensive national search led by moss+ross, a Raleigh-based firm. Monoc will oversee fundraising efforts at PBS North Carolina, which serves the third largest public media market in the country.

As Chief Development Officer, Monoc will lead a comprehensive portfolio that includes annual giving, major gifts, donor cultivation, corporate support, foundation relations and planned giving. Monoc, who most recently served as Interim Chief Development Officer at Nashville PBS (WNPT), joins PBS North Carolina at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation.

Monoc will help build a strong foundation of support to advance PBS North Carolina’s mission of serving all 100 counties across the state. As a trusted source of education, public safety and storytelling, the network builds on over 70 years of service by expanding its statewide impact through community engagement initiatives, educational resources and locally produced content that reflect the people and places of North Carolina.

“Marianne is exactly the kind of leader we need as we continue to build a thriving and sustainable PBS North Carolina,” said David Crabtree, PBS North Carolina’s Chief Executive Officer and General Manager. “She brings deep fundraising expertise, a proven track record of growing revenue and deepening donor relationships, and a passion for our mission to serve all North Carolinians. We’re confident that as Chief Development Officer she will strengthen the community partnerships, philanthropic investment and membership support that enable us to share trusted information, engaging programs and critical services free of charge.”

In this role, she will create and execute a multichannel fundraising strategy that powers some of PBS North Carolina’s most vital initiatives, including Homegrown History, an ambitious five-year public history project; Rootle PBS KIDS, which connects young North Carolinians with high-quality educational content; and the network’s dynamic slate of original productions, including NC Weekend, Sci NC and State Lines

Prior to her role at Nashville PBS, Monoc served as Director of Development and Communications at Central Asia Institute, where she led the design, development and implementation of its fundraising and marketing strategies. Previous roles include Vice President of Development at Chattanooga-based WTCI-PBS, Director of Development at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado and Development Director at Windham County Humane Society in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Monoc holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in history from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science, summa cum laude, in nonprofit management from Louisiana State University. She also holds several professional certifications in fundraising, event planning and volunteer management.
